Rescued and Adopted!

Lulu was rescued in November 2023 and joined her sister Friday in foster care. She was starving and only had one eye, but she recovered quickly and spent lots of time eating, playing, and asking for cuddles from people!

She and Friday were adopted together in March 2024 and are living happily together in their home. Congratulations, Lulu!

Staying Cool in Summer!

Did you know that cats only sweat through their feet and ears? It's true! Staying cool is more difficult for cats than humans. We can help our community cats by providing them with clean, fresh water and cool and shady places to rest. A damp towel can also help them cool down their ears and feet!

If you see a cat panting or drooling, that means it's overheating and needs help!

Finally TNR'd!

After many years of evading capture, Muffin has finally been TNR'd! This means that a kindly neighbor took Muffin to the vet, where he was neutered and vaccinated. Now, he is free to live his life as usual around the neighborhood without worry of disease or making new kittens. Congratulations, Muffin!

FAQ

What is the "Community Cat Tracker"?

The Community Cat Tracker is a way for neighbors to learn about community cats in their area and get up-to-date information about them.

When a cat you've been feeding outside or have enjoyed seeing out in the neighborhood suddenly disappears, you wonder what happened to it and hope that it's okay.

The Community Cat Tracker allows residents to submit "cat profiles" for local community cats so that all residents can find information about all the cats in one place.

What is a "community cat"?

A "community cat" is a cat that lives outside and is taken care of by the community. You can learn more about community cats on Matsudo City's website.

Who runs the website?

My name is Colin. I'm an American living in Matsudo City, and I have three pet cats whom I adopted or rescued.

Recently, I began studying web development. I made this website to practice my skills, and to help everyone in my neighborhood keep track of the community cats more easily.

Who can use the website?

Anyone can visit the website. However, please only submit profiles for cats that live in the area.

Does this website save my personal information?

No, the website doesn't save anyone's personal information.

How can I add a cat profile to the website?

Thanks for helping out!

You can use the subission form to submit a new cat profile or suggest changes to an existing one.

I found a sick/injured cat outside, what should I do?

Visit the Resources section for links to local and national volunteer organizations, online support groups for cat rescue, and NPOs in Japan.

Because this website is managed by just one person, I'm not able to respond to direct inquiries about cat rescue, even for cats in the neighborhood.

I want to adopt a cat from the website!

Because this website is not affiliated with an NPO or any official organization, we are not able to facilitate adoptions or fostering. We will not respond to inquiries about adoption or fostering, or asking for more information about the cats on the website.

Please check the Resources section for a list of organizations in Japan where you can adopt or foster cats.
